Author’s/People Spotlight: Yuri Kochiyama

So, transform yourself first… Because you are young and have dreams and want to do something meaningful, that in itself makes you our future and our hope. Keep expanding your horizon, decolonize your mind, and cross borders.

This is a beautiful quote from the wonderful Yuri Kochiyama. Welcome to this edition of Author’s/People Spotlight, instead of writing a paragraph or two about why Yuri Kochiyama is amazing, I decided pictures are the best way to go.

(I wrote a summary of who she is in one of my old posts)

  1. Fighting For the Rights of Asian Americans from labor laws, women’s rights, to public school issues. She was a force to be reckoned withe254fb45b4323892279086eccbca0e03

4. She’s an all around AMAZING PERSON who has a legacy of awareness, embracing, rising up, and just literally, being the best you can be. She was a woman ahead of her time.

There are some people who may disagree with my love of all things Yuri (because of her statement about Bin Laden being an inspiring and amazing person), but as someone who grew up in an immigrant household, black, and  female, Madam  Yuri Kochiyama is someone I aspire to be. Fighting for what you believe in, speaking up for all, and showing the world that they can’t keep you down: This is why she’s my People Spotlight.
